Letter from a Comic/Friend
I recently received a letter from a comic, completely out of the blue. He is a guy who is actually quite successful who I have had the pleasure to work with several times over the years. It was a great gift to receive right before Christmas, and it is nice to know that sometimes you can influence someone even when you don't know you are doing it. I have deleted his name and contact info for his own anonymity, but the remainder of the letter is his exact words. I wanted to share. Here it is:End of the year thanks! :)
Hey buddy, sorry I missed you on that drive and phone call, I was getting thru the snow myself. I just wanted to give a shout out to you now boss while I have the time to relax and reflect. I'm doing the "Sabo" thing now, driving and performing and making ends meet. I'm loving it though man, it's definitely a grind and I can only imagine how you have done it for as long as you have, it's impressive man.
I mostly wanted to send this as a thanks. You help a lot of comedians fulfill their dreams of just grabbing a mic and performing, man, and I for one have benefited greatly not only from your gigs, but also from your knowledge and advice as I came up to where I am now. I actually just relayed to another comic what you always told me about sending emails to bookers, "send that you are responsible, on time, not a problem, and a professional, not that you're funny."
I just wanted to send this out while I had the time man, I look forward to crossing paths again in the near future man, safe travels and of course happy holidays!
